Welcome to the Embry-Riddle Society of Physics Students Website!
The Society of Physics students is a co-ed campus organization open to any student with an interest in physics. While many of our members are Engineering Physics and Space Physics majors, SPS has also had representation from Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, as well as several others.
The Embry-Riddle (Daytona Beach) SPS chapter is primarily a social and educational organization, though we also do several outreach programs per year, including science fair judging and teaching model rocketry to elementary students. Our sister organization, Sigma Pi Sigma, is an honors association and is primarily a service and educational organization. SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma regularly hold their meetings and functions together.
Fun events in the past have included trips to Cirque Du Soleil, Medieval Times, rock climbing, and parking cars during the Daytona 500. Every year we kick-off the year with a Nitrogen ice cream party, and wind the year down with the annual Physical Science Department Picnic and Student-Faculty Volleyball Showdown.
If you have an interest in physics and are looking for a good time, come join us for our 4th annual Nitrogen Ice Cream Kick-Off Party, or come to one of our bi-weekly meetings, days and times coming up soon!
For more information, contact our secretary Guilherme Loures at louresg@erau.edu .
May the dp/dt be with you!
